Virginia L. Heard Elementary School provides a comprehensive school counseling program designed to support the academic, social, and emotional development of all students. What is the Role of a School Counselor?
The school counseling program at Heard Elementary follows the Georgia Department of Education’s (GaDOE) guidelines to provide structured, data-informed support through:
• Classroom Instruction – Lessons that help students develop academic, career, and social-emotional skills.
• Small Group Counseling – Targeted support for students who need additional guidance in areas such as friendship skills, emotional regulation, or academic success.
• Individual Consultation – One-on-one counseling to assist students in setting personal goals and managing challenges.
• Crisis Response – Immediate support for students experiencing difficult situations.
• Family and Community Resources – Connecting families with school and community services that support student well-being.
